World School Milk Day at College Grove!

Local MP Mary Creagh visited College Grove Nursery recently to celebrate World School Milk Day with our children. The children enjoyed drinking free milk thanks to a government subsidy and the support of our milk provider Cool Milk.

What is World School Milk Day?

World School Milk Day was launched in 2000 by the United Nations with the aim to have all children across the world celebrating school milk on the same day. For more information on World School Milk Day visit:

Why we offer free milk

School milk is an important part of our healthy eating and drinking strategy, largely because it encourages healthy lifestyle choices and has been proven to create milk drinking habits that last a lifetime.

  • Milk contains essential nutrients including calcium, protein and vitamins to help children grow healthy and strong
  • Taking five minutes to drink school milk provides important social time for children
  • Milk is excellent for hydration. Hydration is essential to aid concentration, including that of young minds in the classroom
  • Milk boosts children’s energy between breakfast and lunch

When your child goes to school…

Some schools continue the great healthy choices we offer into reception and beyond. Remember to ask your school when your child starts if they offer milk too.

If you have any questions about the milk we offer, or would like to see some of the photos from the day please ask us when you next visit us. Also, don’t forget to keep an eye out for our celebrations in the local newspaper.
