Staff Developments
We have welcomed Jodie Bolton into the Toddler unit, she has worked in other day care settings and is currently studying towards her Foundation Degree. We have also recruited Nicole Green into nursery to cover as necessary through the busy months ahead, again Nicole is studying for her Foundation Degree in Childhood Studies.
Most of the staff attended a twilight session on Makaton delivered in-house by the local authority; it is a form of signing which supports and encourages spoken language. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed it and we have been using it alongside familiar rhymes and introductions throughout the normal day.
Well done Charlotte who has completed her studies and now holds her Level 3 qualification.
Transition to School
In order to facilitate the smooth transition to school in September could you please let us know the date your child will leave nursery and the school they are due to start. This ensures all records are up to date and reach the appropriate school, it also enables us to make contact with the other settings.
Parents’ Evening, Thursday 3rd July
All parents are invited to join us between 7 and 9pm to meet staff and discuss your child’s progress and general development. It is informal and refreshments will be provided, please let staff know if you are able to attend.
Annual Charity Fun Day, Saturday 13th September, 11am to 2pm
This will be our fifth Fun Day and it has gone from strength to strength. It is a great event and staff put a lot of time and effort into making it successful. We will have a bouncy castle, bottle tombola, face painting, refreshments and lots more. All money raised will be split between our chosen charities Martin House and Wakefield Hospice, please come and support us and feel free to bring friends and family! More details will be given nearer the time.
Cookie Karen’s Cook Book
Due to popular demand Cookie Karen has put together some firm favourites to tickle even the most temperamental of taste buds. Hopefully this will be available some time over the summer months, eat your heart out Jamie Oliver!
Living Eggs
Everyone loved watching the chicks hatch out and they are all doing really well with a friend of mine. I will keep bringing in the pictures and hopefully we will have some eggs pretty soon.
